Goodbye Bouncy Seat!! (September 28, 2009)

On Monday, Sept 28 we officially retired the bouncy seat! The bouncy served us well over the last 6 months...one of THE best baby gifts we received! Sage is able to escape the seat so we decided it was time to say goodbye. She still loves her swing and exersaucer and we are very thankful for this. Sage also loves her Bumbo seat as she can sit in it, dig in her toy basket and spread all her toys, books and magazines around on the floor. This is her new favorite activity, along with rolling on the floor on her quilt. Following are some of our favorite moments in bouncy history:

Sage has a second tooth breaking through!

Earlier this week on Monday, September 28, I noticed a second little tooth breaking through next to her first tooth. So far, these 2 teeth do not seem to really bother Sage with exception of her wanting to chew on everything that gets close to her mouth! It is still difficult to get a picture of these teeth...she keeps biting down on my fingers.

Sage loves Sweet Potatoes!

Today, Sage moved on to Sweet Potatoes and, so far, she seems to love this veggie, too! I hope as we progress through the fruits and other foods she will be as open and flexible as she has been with her squash, carrots, sweet potatoes and prunes. We did not fare so well with the cereals and we will try to add them back in after we master the fruits.

Sage turns 7 months old!

Today, our little sweetie turns 7 months old!!! Every day she has a new expression, sound or movement and Landon and I say she is becoming quite the "little person" ~ not just a baby. She is starting to do so many things and seems to really enjoy life! Some things she is now doing are: ~ She has sat up, on her own, twice this month. One time was just last night and she held herself up for quite awhile before falling over to the side. We cannot wait until she can sit on her own. She does sit up straight in her swing (no more lounging) and chills out by placing her arms on the tray. She just stares at us and the two Maxes. ~ She still has just one tooth coming in. It is breaking through the gums. It does not seem to bother her, at all, with exception of a low-grade fever earlier this week. She is not crying nor fussing and teething has not disrupted her sleep, yet. ~ Sage STILL sleeps through the night...now she sleeps close to 11 hours each night. We usually put her to bed around 8 or 8:30 and she wakes around 7 or 7:30. Some mornings, she wakes around 6 or 6:30 and starts babbling and making noise. She usually goes back to sleeps or just keeps herself entertained until we get her out of her crib. She is so sweet in the mornings ~ always happy to see us. ~ She has learned to escape from her bouncy seat. This just started this week and we are tightening the straps. Until we get it escape-proof, she stays in her bumbo and swing. ~ A new favorite activity is we place a quilt on the floor and she just goes to town playing with all her toys and books. She tries her hardest to crawl and now has the back end movement down. She is working on figuring out her arms. She loves to roll on her quilt....looks like she is rolling downhill! One day, I looked away for 1 second and she was almost under the couch. We keep very close watch on her. ~ She giggles like crazy at a lot of things we do and at funny people. We have a very "animated" neighbor, who stopped by today, and she was talking and talking and talking. Sage was smiling and started giggling at her. It was pretty funny and the neighbor had no clue why Sage was laughing. ~ She LOVES reading ads in the newspaper....especially the Macy's, JCPenney's and Kohl's ads. She intently studies all the sale items then crinkles up the ad...page by page. She will be a bargain hunting fashionista! ~ She has an unusual fascination with Al Roker (the weatherman on NBC Today Show). We try our best to keep her from watching TV but we find her watching him with a lot of interest! Sage at 7 months... Update from Sept 25: We had the following 4 pictures printed at a local store. When we picked up the pictures, 2 lab workers came running to see "the most beautiful baby" they have seen in their line of work. Pretty impressive and, of course, I agree and was very proud. Being the ever cool baby, Sage appeased her fans with a slight smile which seemed to make their day.

Sage loves carrots! (September 24, 2009)

Today, Sage tried out her second veggies ~ carrots ~ and she LOVES them....just like Mama. She is mastering the art of eating and is much cleaner and neater during mealtime ~ check out the photo. We will eat these for awhile and then on to sweet potatoes!!

Sage's first taste of veggies! (September 16, 2009)

Over the last two weeks, Sage has been eating rice and oatmeal cereals. She did not care for the rice cereal so we progressed to oatmeal. Well....she does not really like the oatmeal cereal so her pediatrician said she could move on to her 1st veggies. He wants her to start with "yellow". After she masters yellow, she moves on to "orange" and finally "green". After veggies, she will get fruit. So, on Wednesday (Sept 16), I fed her squash and she seemed to really like it. Her first reaction was a look like the squash was really sour! After the first taste, she dug right in. For dessert, Sage had some pureed prunes as all this new food has her little digestive system off a bit. She seems to like the prunes OK....just wait until she's older. YUM...squash and prunes all over my face (and bib, hands, highchair....everywhere!!).

Sage is her Mama's girl!

One of Sage's newest and most favorite things to do is peruse catalogs and magazines...just like her Mama!! She really loves the new fall Pottery Barn catalog and spends hours admiring the beautiful rooms. Sage is less than graceful when she turns the pages...one day she will learn to look at catalogs and magazines without destroying them! Sage checking out Pottery Barn's latest catalog...
"Oh my....look at that fabulous room!"
