Sage's visit with her cousins, Great Aunt Irene and Bis Abuela (October 24, 2009)

On Saturday, Landon took Sage to visit her Bis Abuela. It was a fun visit with a bonus....Great Aunt Irene and Lisa and Tyler stopped by to see Sage. From what I hear from Landon, Sage had a ball visiting and playing with everyone and was such a good girl. Her Bis Abuela had a great time watching Sage eat her green beans...she said "Sage looks like a sweet baby bird when she opens her mouth for more". Sage with her 2nd cousin Tyler & Bis Abuela...

Sage turns 8 months old! (October 24, 2009)

On Saturday, October 24 Sage turned 8 months! She is such a big girl now...it's strange to look back on her newborn photos and remember how tiny she was. For this picture, we dressed her in the sweet pink smocked dress her Great Aunt Irene gave to her. This is a very special dress as it reminds Irene of something Landon's mom would choose for Sage. Following are some of the things Sage is doing now ~ I am sure I am leaving out a few. ~ Sage can sit upright for long periods of time and loves to do this. If we are in the room, we let her be free so she can sit and explore her toy basket. She still pulls out all her toys. She also loves her exersaucer. ~ Sage is still trying to crawl and did some bunny hops the other day. She can drag herself around pretty good and spin herself around in a circle. She may never do the traditional crawl and that's ok with us! ~ Sage can stand up pretty good when we hold her by the waist. Her legs are quite strong and she loves to be held this way. She cannot stand on her own but looks like we are getting there. ~ Sage is eating solid food 2x daily with 4 bottles daily. She is eating a lot of different foods these days. For breakfast, she eats apples, blueberry/pear/apple, blueberry/apple granola, oatmeal with pears/apples and mango baby food. For lunch, she loves all veggies and has had green beans, peas (took awhile to like these), carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, butternut squash with corn and pasta dinner (whole wheat pasta w/tomatoes, green beans, carrots and garbanzo beans). She is still figuring out how to pick up small pieces of food and chew and swallow them. We are starting with baby puffs that melt in her mouth so she can get used to the picking up and chewing process. ~ Sage is very vocal these days. She babbles and giggles A LOT...especially when we are at home. She can be quiet in public or when she is in someone else's home. Of course, she can be loud in public which she demonstrated earlier this week at lunch with Amy. She seems to feel very comfortable in Publix and babbles a lot. Landon swears she is saying "papa" or "da-da" but it just sounds like "ba ba ba baaaaa", "AAAHHHHH" with some other sounds thrown in. ~ Sage and I attend Gymboree classes 2x/week. On Tuesday, we go to baby sign language class. It's funny as Sage seems to have a very long attention span and pays close attention to the teacher. She moves her hands a lot when the teacher is signing and singing...of course, she is not doing signs, yet. Even the teacher commented on this and said as we were leaving "We always have one prodigy in the class!". On Thursday, we attend play/music class and Sage has so much fun. We play baby soccer, sing songs with Gymbo (a large stuffed clown that I find a little scary but Sage loves him), do exercises on slides and wedges to help Sage crawl and develop, place the babies under a parachute and raise/lower it, blow bubbles and just do a lot of activities that all the babies love. ~ Sage loves for us to read to her and loves feeling book pages and looking at the pictures. We just added a bookcase to Sage's room to house her growing book collection. ~ Sage wears size 6 mos and some 6-9 mos clothing. She is still somewhat petite for her age. ~ Loves to peek out of her crib. She does this by pulling down the breathable bumper at the front of the crib and peeks at you. We catch her doing this all of the time. Sage at 8 months... I love this dress...

Yee Haw!!

On one of of his recent business trips, Landon visited Dallas and brought back a denim dress with pink horses and horseshoes. It is a size 0-6 mos so we put it on and it fit fine except it's a little short. She still looked cute in it so we added her pink winter boots (which do not stay on) and she became a little cowgirl...minus the cowgirl hat. We could not find one in her size! And here go the boots... And they are GONE...

Sage visits her first pumpkin patch! (October 17, 2009)

On Saturday, October 17, we took Sage to her first pumpkin patch. The weather was gorgeous...low-mid 70's and breezy. Sage had a lot of fun and was dressed for the occasion. She loved looking around at all the people and bright orange pumpkins! We picked out a good pumpkin for Landon to carve for Sage. While we were taking her pictures, a lot of people stopped and watched...just like a real photo shoot. All of this activity distracted Sage so it was hard to get her to look at the camera. We did get some good shots. After the patch, we stopped at the Fresh Market and Sage attracted a group of girls. They were giggling and really taken by her...it was so cute. Sage at the patch... Are we done here? Ohh wait....look at that pumpkin...

Sage does not do professional photographers!

Today, we went to our first appointment with a professional photographer at JCPenney. Even with all the pictures we take of Sage, I was so excited to have Sage's first "professional" photos. We had 2 outfits planned...the 1st was a pink tutu, monogrammed onesie, headband/bow (of course) and Sage's new baby bracelet. The 2nd outfit was a cute pair of bloomers with Sage's name monogrammed on the bottom in hot pink. Sage did great in the waiting area smiling at everyone in the area, including a couple other babies. She seemed very excited and in a good mood and since our girl is ALWAYS so pleasant, sociable, smiley and well-behaved, I thought this would be a breeze. WELL....after the photographer took about 3 shots, Sage started crying so hard...like something really frightened her. I held her for awhile and she calmed down. We resumed and after a couple more pictures, once again, she started crying really hard. I did not want to upset her anymore so we stopped. The photographer ended up getting 5 good shots (including one of Sage crying) so we had some good ones from which to choose. Needless to say we only ended up getting pics in one outfit. Hopefully, she will grow out of this fear as the holidays are right around the corner!!! Following are the shots that made it before the meltdown (there is one of the meltdown). So sweet... Love this profile... Uh oh...starting to get upset but still so cute... This one says it all... Three faces of Sage... And...it's a wrap folks!

Sage visits Grandmama & Grandaddy! (October 10, 2009)

On Saturday, October 10 we visited Grandmama & Grandaddy. It has been awhile since we visited them at home as Grandmama has been in the hospital/rehab center after knee replacement surgery. Sage showed off her ever improving sitting skills (she sits up straight for long periods of time with little or no falling!) and enjoyed sitting with Grandaddy while he watched a golf tournament. Sage sitting up on the couch... Sage & Grandmama... Sage & Grandaddy watching golf...

Visit with Bis Abuela (October 9, 2009)

On Friday, October 9, we visited Bis Abuela for dinner and some fun! Sage was very animated....talking and laughing a lot! Sage and Bis Abuela had a lot of fun playing on the floor and talking on the phone. Bis Abuela calling Sage from Sage's cell phone... Sage & Bis Abuela reading...

Sage loves green beans!

Well...we have moved on from peas as Sage is not too fond of them. She would open her mouth for a bite then kind of push the peas out of her mouth. They do seem much lumpier than the other veggies so it could be the texture. Soooo....decided we will just move on to green beans and so far, she LOVES them. She kept opening wide for more and did not push them out of her mouth. We will continue the green beans and then on to YUMMY fruit!

More firsts for Sage!!!

Ok....I know these "firsts" might seem minor but they are MAJOR to us! The reason they are major is we no longer have to carry her in the VERY heavy carseat into restaurants and on shopping trips. This is such a wonderful thing for us!!!! The first-first this week is Sage sat in a public highchair. On Wednesday, October 7, Sage, Landon and I met Laena for lunch and Sage sat in a highchair in the cafe. She also sat in a public highchair when we out to dinner with Papa Marc. This new vantage point seems to get her really excited as she moves and squeals with much delight. Her other first this week is sitting up in a shopping cart. Her "real" first time was this Tuesday, October 6 on a quick trip to Target. She kind of slouched on this trip. Today, we went to Publix and she sat up straight and squealed with delight throughout the store. She especially loved watching the bagger place our items in the bags....this really captured her attention. A funny side note ~ the bagger was an elderly lady and when she saw Sage she said "Oh look at HIM...HE'S having such a good time." The cashier, who is all of 19, rolled her eyes and said "UHHHH....HE'S like a GIRL ~ what...did you miss the purple hat and sandals with bows!". I did not have to say a thing.... Sage in the highchair having fun! Sage having fun at Publix (and being mistaken for a HE!)...
