Sage turns 10 months old! (December 24, 2009)

On Thursday, December 24 our little sweetie turned 10 months old! We cannot believe she has moved into the "double digits" - time does go by so quickly. Sage is really growing and starting to look less like a baby and more like a little girl. This is exciting but also makes us sad. Sage is rapidly developing and gains more skills weekly - sometimes daily. I was unable to capture the monthly picture in her chair as we were rushing around on Christmas Eve and left right after her nap for Bis Abuela's. We did get some pictures in Daddy's office chair right before we left for Bis Abuela's so posting these. Some things Sage is doing at 10 months are:

~ Sage now has 6 teeth!!!! She has her 2 front teeth, her incisors and her front bottom teeth.

~ Sage is still doing the army crawl but lately she has been trying very hard to get up on her knees and forearms and crawl. She cannot move as fast so gives up and just gets back on her belly and crawls. She crawls everywhere and picks up everything in her path.

~ Sage recognizes her name when we call it. She will stop and look at us when we say "Sage". She also seems to recognize "Stop" and "No" and will (sometimes) stop what she is doing. This is good when she is heading for something dangerous.

~ Sage can wave hi/bye. She is selective about when she waves and seems to enjoy doing it during mealtime and while we are changing her diaper.

~ Sage can clap her hands! I will clap my hands 6-8 times then stop. She will think a minute or two then clap her hand together. She also clapped today during music class when we were singing along to Queen's Bicycle song. Sage also slaps her hand down after you have shown her your hand hitting the ground, leg or her new favorite drum.

~ Sage loves to growl! She will growl back at you and even growls when she hears Max growling.

~ Sage is still trying to stand up and constantly looking for things to support her. She does not really stand up like the earlier post so unsure if she is scared or just a little lazy. :)

~ Sage is mostly eating baby food and we are moving towards getting her on more solid/adult food. She does not seem very interested but we will focus more on this.

~ Sage loves to "run" from us in her crib. She will be sitting up peeking through the slats. When she sees us come in the room, she will throw herself down on the mattress and try to crawl away...all the while giggling and squealing. Of course, she cannot get very far in her crib.

Sage in Daddy's chair... Our bald baby's hair is getting long!

Christmas Eve at Bis Abuela's! (December 24, 2009)

We spent Christmas Eve with Great Aunt Irene, Great Uncle Michael, Cousins Lisa, Emily & Tyler, Bis Abuela and Bill (a friend of the family). It was a wonderful evening with family and a lot of fabulous food! Sage received a sweet outfit from her great aunt & uncle. Bis Abuela gave Sage an adorable rocking horse for Christmas and Sage seems to like her new horse. He even makes "neighing" and running sounds! Sage has rocked on her horse every day since she received him and all we need to do now is name him. Any suggestions? Sage and her new rocking horse... Sage & Bis Abuela... Sage & Daddy... Sage & Lisa... Sage, Tyler & a serving spoon to which she became very attached... Sage, with Great Aunt Irene, opening her gift from Great Aunt Irene & Uncle Michael (an adorable red plaid skirt and denim top)... And of course...Sage had to take a whirl at the piano...

Grandaddy's Birthday! (December 19, 2009)

I am a little behind on posting and just catching up on Grandaddy's birthday. We got together on Saturday, Dec 19 for dinner and back to Theresa's for a small celebration. Sage was in a great mood and did a lot of piano playing for the crowd! It is so funny as she played a few "notes", stopped, turned around and looked at us as if waiting for applause. Sooo...we applauded and cheered for her. She squealed then turned around and started playing again. This went on for a long time before we asked for a final encore and moved on to birthday cake. Sage also looks like she is trying to turn the pages on the music - so cute. We did get a video of her playing but it turned out too dark. Hopefully this early love of the piano will turn into a life-long love for her. Sage loves her shoes... Apparently enough to eat them... Sage & Aunt Theresa playing the piano... Pausing for some applause... Sage & Uncle David... Sage & Grandaddy... Sage & Grandmama... Sage, Grandmama & Mommy... Sage, Mommy & Daddy...

Sage & Santa!

Today we visited Santa Claus and Sage really liked him!! We went around lunch time so Landon could meet us and see Sage's 1st pictures with Santa. We were unsure how she would react to him ~ especially since sometimes she can be afraid of strangers. Well....she was very happy sitting on Santa's lap! He was making her smile big by gently tapping her nose. We were so thrilled that she did not get upset. It is funny, though, as after looking at the pictures, she looks a little frightened. Not in person ~ she was having a great time. After Santa, we ate lunch and walked around the mall. Something (maybe Santa...) had Sage in such a happy mood that she was kicking, smiling at and babbling to everyone. People were stopping and admiring her throughout the mall. She loved all the attention! Sage and Santa ~ Landon thinks Santa looks a little drunk here (he most definitely was not!)... She looks a little unsure in these but was happy as can be...

Sage stands!!!

Today while playing, Sage cruised over to the couch and started trying to pull up. She got most of the way up and I helped boost her a little by placing her hands on the top cushion of the couch. After the boost, she stood up on her own (while holding on) for a long time! This is the first time she has completely stood up just holding on to the couch. Of course, after awhile, she fell with a "THUD" and started crying! She was fine ~ just scared. Sage's 1st stand... And down she goes...

Sage's 1st Christmas Lights! (November 12, 2009)

On Saturday, November 12 we decided to take Sage to the "Rawls Road" Christmas Lights Extravaganza"!!! Rawls Road is about 5 mins from our house and we go every year to check out the lights and decorations. It is at least 2-3 neighbors and the display is absolutely amazing. They have a path throughout the front and back yards with thousands of lights, animated objects, Christmas video & movies, music and the lights are sychronized to flash to the music. They even have some cars and motorcycles decorated with lights. Sage LOVED all the lights and especially the big snow globes scattered everywhere. Snow globes seem to be one of her favorite things as she loves looking at them. Sage was very talkative (babbling) while we were walking around and loved watching children and other babies go by. Sage also met a very friendly kitty that made her squeal with delight. It was a fantastic evening and so much fun to see all the lights and displays through Sage's eyes. Sage & Daddy at the start of the trail... Sage & Mommy... Sage, Mommy & Pooh... Sage, Daddy & Mommy... Large snowglobe... Sage checking out the large snowglobe ~ look at her eyes! Sage & her new friend! Sage, Daddy & Motorcycle Santa... Just a sample of the display... Sage & Mommy people watching... Family self-portrait... Sage was very excited about the grass! Sage's reindeer socks...they even have a tail on the heel!
