Sage in the tub (March 28, 2010)

When Sage was sick, we gave her quite a few baths to cool her down.  Even though she was not feeling well, she still tried to play in the tub and read her Curious George water book.   These are some shots of Sage that are so sweet...

Sage does some reading! (March 25, 2010)

Sage is very mobile these days and loves to get her hands on any and all reading material.  I went in the kitchen to do something and returned to find her "perusing" magazines we keep in a basket.  She absolutely loves to get hold of magazines and the newspaper and catch up on all the latest news.  She is less than neat with her reading endeavors so I am constantly picking up after her.

Learning "How to Stay Fit & Fabulous!"...
Ohhh...now she's reading about the Peruvian jungle!
and...a girl must always catch up on the latest entertainment news...she seems to have pulled out a page for later reference!

Sage turns 13 months! (March 24, 2010)

On Wednesday, March 24 Sage turned 13 months!  WOW...she is getting to be such a big girl and when I look back at the pics I took on her 13 mos birthday, she looks like a little girl - no longer a baby.  I listed a lot of things Sage is doing on her 1 yr checkup post.  She is still clapping like crazy and now waves  hi and bye when you say "hi" and "bye".   She imitates words I say and said "bear" when we were reading a book about bears.  She still loves to say "Ohhhhhh" when something delights her and let out a BIG "Ohhhhh" when she heard Grandaddy's voice the other day.  It was so sweet.

Sage also had her 1st stomach flu and actually 1st time being sick.  We had a nice long run without any sickness so we were very lucky.  We don't know where she picked it up - probably Gymboree or the library.  Poor little thing was so sick over the weekend and is still recovering.  Even sick, she was smiling and waving at us!

Here are Sage's 13 mos photos in an adorable cupcake top Daddy brought home from a trip to California.

Ohhh...look at this tulle skirt on my shirt!

Early celebration of our 6 yr anniversary! (March 20-21, 2010)

We decided to celebrate our 6 yr anniversary, which is March 26, the weekend of March 20-21.  The reason is we wanted to stay at the Vinoy in St. Pete and discovered the Grand Prix race will be held there the weekend of our anniversary.

Sage stayed with her Grandparents and everyone had a great time!  According to Grandaddy & Grandmama, Sage was a perfect little girl and very well-behaved.  Aunt Theresa, Uncle David & Kathy visited Sage during her stay and everyone seemed to enjoy her.  We dropped Sage off around noon on Saturday and headed to the Vinoy for our 3:00 spa appointments.  Before the spa, we enjoyed a yummy pool-side lunch and just relaxed.  After the spa, we hung out on the Vinoy's large front porch and watched all the people coming & going.  There were at least 2 weddings that day, one was held right outside our room, so a lot of interesting people to see.  For dinner we walked to Moon Under Water for a scrumptious dinner.

On Sunday, we slept in and enjoyed a leisurely breakfast.  After breakfast, we walked around the grounds of hotel and around St. Pete.  We got caught in the rain and still had a wonderful time.

We really missed our little sweetie but it is so nice for the two of us to get away. It was so exciting to see her - she was relaxing in her Grandaddy's arms when we arrived to pick her up.  She actually looked bigger & older from when we dropped her off on Saturday!  It was a wonderful weekend and we sure do appreciate Grandaddy & Grandmama taking such good care of our little girl.

Club Detroit - spent a lot of nights here in our "youth"...
Jannus Landing - outdoor concert venue where we had our 1st real date!  I pretended to love some guitarist (Robin Trower) who Landon really likes.  Thank goodness I no longer have to pretend as I have paid my dues in attending these "guitarist" concerts!

"Tour de Village" (March 13, 2010)

On Saturday, March 13 I ran in a race in Carrollwood Village. It was so close to home so that part was great but the race was kind of different. It was all on soft grass, literally in people's backyards, and there were a lot of holes and ant hills on the course. Soooo....I had to keep a close eye on the ground and did not do as well as my last few races. It is always good to get out and run and Landon & Sage were waiting for me at the finish line so it was a wonderful day!

There was a very annoying guy in jean shorts (right of picture) who kept walking and then sprinting!  Here he is about to start sprinting and pass me (in black).   Who wears jean shorts to a run????

Sage pushes her baby!

Since Tuesday, March 9, Sage has been holding on to her baby stroller and pushing it along while taking very small and cautious steps.  Even though she has cruised a little bit in her crib, these are her first real attempts at walking in a "straight" line.  Today after lunch, Sage wanted to take her baby for a walk so we did this for about 15 mins.  Sage would push her stroller across the family room and then get stuck between a chair and side table.  I would pick up Sage and her stroller and return them to our starting point.  She would then head right back to the same spot, get stuck and we would start all over again. I was able to capture a short video of Sage pushing her baby. Enjoy!

Sage & Her Wagon! (March 6, 2010)

On Saturday, March 6, we finally had a warmer day so we decided to take Sage out for a spin in her new wagon.  We gave her the wagon as a birthday gift.  We took her to the trail behind our home and she really enjoyed riding in her new wagon.

One funny moment is when we were out, our neighbor, Larry, came across the street to see Sage in her wagon.  Sage had on sunglasses and when she saw him walk up, she whipped off her sunglasses, gave him a big grin and said "Dada"!  It was so funny....Landon and I laughed very hard.

Sage's 1 yr doctor's visit (March 2, 2010)

Well...I am very behind in updating the blog so just now getting to Sage's 1 yr checkup.  I also realized in the midst of all the birthday posts, I did not do a post for "Sage turns 1 year old" so adding her 1 yr pics and information in this post.

According to her pediatrician, Sage is thriving and doing great!  She is still petite weighing 18 lbs 14 ozs (15%), is 29" long/tall (45%) and her head measures 18.25" (83%).  The dr. is not concerned about her weight saying that she has always been smaller and he sees a lot of good "chub" on her!  After her appt, we switched her from formula to whole milk.  The switch was so simple and she seems to love her milk just as much as she loved her formula.

Sage is now eating a variety of foods.  For breakfast she eats oatmeal, blueberry waffles or pancakes.  She also has a fruit...usually watermelon, her fave!  For a snack she will have organic "fiddlesticks" that are whole grain fruit sticks, freeze dried yogurt or "puffs".  She drinks water and sometimes water + prune juice when we are having issues.  For lunch Sage usually eats grilled cheese, mac & cheese, black bean burger, veg protein chicken fingers, REAL chicken fingers or mac & cheese veggie cakes.  She then has her 2nd course of either veggies (carrots, black beans + sugar snap peas), whole grain wagon wheels or fruit (usually watermelon or freeze dried apples).  I let her have 1 small organic alphabet cookie or 3 freeze dried yogurt drops.  For dinner, it is usually one of the items listed from lunch - just a different combo than what she had for lunch that day.   Sometimes she will love something the 1st time she eats it,  then the next time we try it, it gets thrown on the floor.  We have tried a lot of other fruits and vegs and she will not always eat them.  I found a line of organic kids' food that has cut up carrots that you bake like french fries and she seems to like these.  I tried to give her tomatoes and she turned her head away.  Soooo...we will keep trying healthy foods and hopefully she'll start eating more of these!

Some things Sage is doing at 1 are:

- She can say "mama", "dada" and "baba" and seems to know what they mean.  She is also very good at imitating words we say and will repeat them with us.  When something delights her, she says "Ohhhh", forms a large "O' with her mouth and raises her eyebrows.  She is also babbling/talking constantly and it is so much fun to carry on a conversation with her.  Of course, she is also screaching a little louder and this is not so much fun when we are in public!

- When Sage is eating something she really enjoys, she says "YUMMMMMM" and keeps on saying it while eating.

- Sage is dancing and bouncing to music.  So cute!

- Sage loves to clap, wave and laugh. She claps when she hears others clapping, waves at everyone and laughs all of the time.

- Sage is standing & cruising.  She loves to push her baby stroller around the family room.  She'll be walking anyday now!

- Sage loves to read and seems to like her books more than her toys.  We are pretty happy about this and hope our love of reading passes on to her.  She likes to look at any book or magazine and seems very deep in thought when she is reading.  She "talks" a lot while she is looking at her books and has a lot of expression in her voice when she is reading.   She really loves books that have bright pictures and are "touch and feel" meaning they have shiny areas, fur on animals, etc.  Some of Sage's favorite books right now are "That's not my Mermaid", "Eight Silly Monkeys", "Garden Fairy Fun", Dwell "Farm Animals", her soft Disney Princess book and her entire collection of Strawberry Shortcake books (they're good for chewing).

- Sage seems to be a very sociable little girl.  When we are out, she looks and smiles at people and is very friendly.  She still gets a lot of attention....especially when she flashes them a big grin. She also loves going to music class at Gymboree and loves to get in the middle of the circle and then look at everyone. Most babies stay with their moms or crawl around the outskirts.

I am sure I am leaving out some things Sage is doing....if I think of others, I will return and update this post.

It's unbelievable to us that Sage is 1 yr old....my how time flies.  It was the best year of our lives and we cannot wait to see how our little girl grows.
