Happy 4th of July! (July 4, 2010)

We spent the long 4th of July weekend on Siesta Key and Sage loved the beach!!  Sage has been to the beach but not as a walking/talking little person.  We arrived on Friday afternoon and took Sage out to the beach and water.  She was so excited so we knew the weekend was going to be a success.  On Saturday, we spent most of the morning and early afternoon on the beach and Sage played in the sand, fought the waves with Daddy and loved picking up seashells, beach rocks and watching all the sea birds.  It was a rainy weekend and the rain came that evening so we went out to dinner and still enjoyed the day.

On Sunday, the 4th, we woke up to another rainy day so decided to head to Ellenton for some shopping.  We returned in the afternoon and decided to pack a picnic dinner and headed out to the beach around 6:30.  The rain had gone away so it was a wonderfully cool evening on the beach.  We swam, played in the sand, ate our dinner and just had a great time!  A large fireworks display started around 8:45 and Sage was a big girl and stayed up past 10 pm watching the fireworks on the beach.  We had the perfect 4th of July holiday with our little sweetie!

Sage turns 16 months old! (June 24, 2010)

Sage is now 16 months old and we swear she changed overnight!  The major changes seem to have taken place after she started walking on her own.  Now, she loves to walk everywhere and does laps around the sofa in the family room.  We let her walk when we go places that she can safely do so (and not cause a traffic jam).  She has also changed dramatically when it comes to interacting at Gymboree and storytime at the library.  She has come ALIVE and is all over the place exploring.  She always hung back when other babies & toddlers went for the toys but just this week, she got in there with all of them and had so much fun.  Her personality is really developing and she is a lot of fun!

Some other things Sage is doing at 16 months:

- She can point out body parts, specifically her head, toes, knees, mouth and belly button. She loves lifting her shirt to show you her belly button.

- She "gets" what you say and is really good at following directions at Gymboree.  We still attend music class and the teacher leads us through singing and other activities such as bouncing hands on a ball, rolling the ball, waving, clapping and other things.  Sage follows along and does everything we are doing and has so much fun doing it.   Our next class, we are moving up to the next level so she'll have even more fun!

- Sage's words are "mama", "dada", "bobo" - for Max, "meee-owww",  "baby", "quack", "arf", "boat", "hi", "bye".  She loves to see other babies and says "ba-by" when she sees them.  Of course, she has her own language and babbles a lot in it.  She has finally mastered the sign for eat, all done and seems to get the sign for sleep.

- Sage can give kisses and loves to do so.   She also loves to run and give me a big hug when I ask for one.  I love this!!

- Sage loves singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star..." and we do this at every nap and nighttime before she goes to bed.  She makes a diamond sign, sometimes points at the sky (like a diamond in the sky...) and sometimes shrugs her shoulders at "how I wonder what you are....".  This song can make her stop crying if she is unhappy about going to bed!

- Sage loves to stroll her baby and gives her a big hug when I show her how to love her baby.

I know I am missing so many things Sage is doing...I'll come back and update when I think of others!
