Happy Mother's Day! (May 10, 2009)
Sunday, May 10 was a wonderful first Mother's Day! It actually started on Friday with a beautiful "edible arrangements" delivery from Landon. Edible Arrangements are bouquets made from fruit. We received a beautiful delivery of pineapple, strawberries and cantelopes. I was so excited to dig in that I neglected to take a picture of the arrangement. Throughout the week, I received cards & gifts from friends, family & even neighbors....it was so touching to be thought of by so many people.
On the actual day, Landon woke up early, took care of Sage and fixed breakfast. I also received sweet cards from Sage & Landon, beautiful hot pink roses, a gift card to the spa and a gorgeous amethyst/diamond ring in honor of Sage's birthstone. The ring is on order- I cannot wait to see it. I also received some wonderful gifts from my family including gorgeous red roses from my dad, a beautiful engraved heart memorializing my first mother's day, godiva chocolates, gardening supplies & cute outfit for Sage.
We decided to have a BBQ at our house and Landon took care of all the details. He planned the meal, did all the shopping and cooking. He also did a beautiful job setting the table with all pink (pink placemats, dishes, napkins, etc) and had a pink rose at my mom's and my place setting. He fixed the "moms" mimosas then headed out to grill. In attendance was Grandmama, Grandaddy, Uncle David & Aunt Theresa. Everyone contributed to the meal and we had hamburgers, black bean burgers, sweet italian sausage, baked beans, potato salad, sun chips, fruit salad and for dessert - key lime pie & cupcakes. It was a beautiful day so we dined outdoors on the patio. After lunch, we went outside for photo op's with Sage. She was such a good girl and seems to really love having her family around. One funny moment was when I was holding Sage, she glanced down at my silver shoes and her eyes just got so big and she could not look away. It's a look we have never seen before. She looked like she was so fascinated.....she is her mother's girl. We did take a picture but it did not turn out too good.
Needless to say, my first Mother's Day was so wonderful and one I will never forget!!!
