Sage & Max the Kitty (June 5, 2009)

We have a kitty, Max and yes...a dog, Max. In October 2001, I adopted Max (the cat) from the Humane Society when we was 8 wks old & named him Max. In February 2006, we adopted Max (the dog), also from the Humane Society, and whose name was already Max. The vet actually identifies them as "Max, the cat" and "Max, the dog". It is considered "bad luck" to change a dog's name. Our little shih tzu puppy had already had enough bad luck (abuse, etc) so we left his name as is. We do not have a problem with them responding to their names as the kitty responds to "kitty", "Max" or some other choice names from Landon. Max, the dog, just responds...period. Anyway....both kitty & puppy have pretty much ignored this new alien creature who abruptly entered their lives in February. As of late, the kitty has seemed more interested in her. Here are some pictures of one of their first interactions....hopefully they will become good friends even though I know it will be hard to teach Sage to play nice with the kitty & puppy. And please....do not "write in" that the kitty will try to steal Sage's breath or smother her....it is really an old wives' tale confirmed by our vet and pediatrician! Sage & her new "live" friend....Max, the cat...
