On Saturday, February 20, 2010, we had "Princess Sage's" first birthday celebration! We had it in our home and invited just family as we wanted to keep it small as not to overwhelm the birthday girl! We have had a long run of cold weather but on this special day, it warmed up to about 70 degrees and was perfect for our semi-outdoor celebration. Everything from the invitations to the cake was pink and fit for a princess. It was the perfect day and our little angel seemed to really enjoy her party, the gifts, the cake and all of the attention! Sage was such a good-natured birthday girl and did not get tired nor cry during the entire party. She really loved opening her gifts but REALLY loves opening and "reading" all of her birthday cards and cards on the gift bags.
Sage was presented with her very own cake to eat, smash or whatever! We were unsure what she would do and she just kind of stared at it them started very daintily pinching at the frosting. She kept this up so Landon decided to show her how to stick her face in the cake and take a big bite! She just started at him like he is crazy and kept on pinching at the cake. She did get a good amount of cake and frosting on her face but did not make too big of a mess.
To commemorate Sage's first year, I went through this blog and created a movie titled "Sage's Story ~ The 1st Year". It is amazing to see the changes from a tiny newborn to 1 yr old and all the fun we had over this past year. We played the movie at the party and everyone loved it (especially when the movie showed them with Sage!). Even though this was the only 1st birthday party we have ever thrown, by all accounts we think it was a HUGE success and a beautiful day for Sage and her family!
