Sage's 1st Gasparilla Parade...children's version! (January 23, 2010)

On Saturday, we decided to take Sage to the Children's Gasparilla Parade.  We all dressed in our best pirate gear and headed out around 1:00.  The parade started at 3:30 and we were unsure how Sage would do since this is right at nap time.  She took a short nap on the way and woke up ready to go!  After lucking out with an awesome parking place, we found a great spot, under a large shady tree, to watch the parade.  Sage seemed to enjoy herself and even got some beads!  We stayed until about 4:30 (parade lasted until 6:30) and then headed to Evos for dinner.  Sage did not take her afternoon nap and she was WILD when we got home.  She finally went to sleep around 10 pm.  On Sunday, she caught up on her sleeping from 10 am - 2 pm!

Apparently this parade is a BIG event for kids and their parents. There is a preschooler stroll before the parade and people had their kids dressed up like pirates and their "rides" (strollers, wagons, etc) decorated like pirate ships. Next year, we will participate in this event as Sage will be old enough to really enjoy it.

Excited about going to the parade...

love it - love the outfit. We ended up skipping it this year, but I want to do the preschool stroll next year - you have to register for it before hand! Glad you found a good spot!
